The Synopsis in Brief:

Aladdin is tricked by the evil Abanazar into accepting a stolen bag of jelly babies owned by the powerful Emperor of Pekin. The Emperors daughter, Princess Cha-Ming falls in love with Aladdin at their first meeting. Aladdin’s mother, the Widow Twankey and his brother Wishee Washee live in Pekin and Wishee Washee is besotted, from their first meeting, with the lovely So-Shi, princess Cha-Ming’s hand maiden. When Aladdin is caught with the Jelly Babies and pursued by the hilarious bumbling Pekin police – Ping and Pong, things look grim. Until a lovely green slave girl guides him to an old lamp, which produces a very funky blue genie. Then things hot up!

The music is a mix of very popular childrens songs, pop songs and old classics. ( eg Who Will Buy, Walk Like an Egyptian, Voulez Vous, Leaning on the Lampost, Can’t Smile Without You etc )

CHRISTINE HINGSTON

Christine Hingston was born in Perth, Western Australia and from an early age art was her passion.

Despite travelling extensively and residing for some time over seas, Australia and its diverse regions of colour and climate remains her inspiration.

" Whilst I love to travel to far off exotic locations, the inspiration of my work continues to be my own environment...my town....my state."

After graduating from Claremont College of Fine Art in 1972 Christine Hingston followed her dreams and went to London, where she continued her passion of art.  Returning to Australia with her husband and two children, she found herself living in the remote Goldfields in Western Australia.

"In the past I have spent a lot of time in the West Australian goldfields, often in the most isolated of locations, many miles from the nearest town.  The colours and characters I encountered there strongly influence my work."

"In summer the dog beach near Scarborough is a favourite hangout. The contrast between white sand, deep blue sea and an endless sky are made to be painted in oils.  Rottnest Islands unique colours are a continuing source of inspiration, it is a place I have come to know well and never tire of its charm.  Its lazy island feel is a challenge to capture on canvas."

Additional to many private collections in Australia Christine Hingston's works hang in Los Angeles, London, Moscow and Paris.

Christine Hingston was a finalist in the 2008 City of Perth of Perth Black Swan Prize for Portraiture
